Hello Everyone,

Well this week has been JAM PACKED!! This week I went to Occupy Wall Street and participated in some cool events at MTV.

First let’s talk about my week at MTV. This week I had a mid-semester forum and I volunteer at Viacom’s Get Schooled event. Right now I have halfway done with my internship. So during the halfway mark MTV host inter forums. The forum that I went to was about production and production management. The forum was informational and I learned what it takes to be a MTV correspondent. From the forum I learned how the VMA awards are put together and how to move up in the ranks at MTV/Viacom. In addition, at the forum we go an intern shirts. The intern shirts are really cool and colorful. See below.

Moreover, I volunteered at Viacom’s Get Schooled Event. At this event I talked to high school students from the NY area to talk about college and interning at MTV. It was cool to volunteer plus we got duffle bags saying the MTV Ligers. Go Ligers!!

Now on the best part of week. On Thursday I went to Occupy Wall Street to get some footage for Update News and do a story for myself. Occupy Wall Street is CRAZY..but so much FUN. I got an adrenaline rush from covering the story. In addition, I was in the middle between an argument between a protester and Cenk Uygur. Cenk Uygur was there filming a promo for a new show on Current TV. I think the Occupy Wall Street movement is becoming a serious social movement in America. When I was there I could feel the anger and passion from the protesters. Here’s a photo of one of the wall street protester.

So that’s up with me in the Big Apple. Next week I give the run down of the Cable Maverick Career Fair I went to and Halloween in NYC.

Hello Everyone,

This week I was in Big Easy aka New Orleans for a RTDNA Conference. So maybe this post should be titled Keith in the Big Easy. LOL.

So let me tell you about my experience in New Orleans. I went to the Big Easy to volunteer at the RTDNA conference. I applied to be a logistics volunteer at the convention and help out. I thought this will be a great opportunity for me to network with many top notch journalist. I am Journalism major with an emphasis in Television and Radio and there were many journalist from the Television News industry.

The best moment of the conference was when I asked CNN Anchor Soledad O’Brien a question and got to take a picture with her. I asked what advice do have for students who are recently graduating college who want to the pursue a career in the TV news industry. Soledad had a great response. She told me be a yes man when starting out and try to impress you superiors at every move. She gave an example of two interns who worked for and fired them because they were sent to get a coffee run and the interns only got coffee for themselves.

The life in New Orleans is wild. I went to Burbon Street and the nightlife there is popping. There are many strip clubs on the street and people are drinking concoctions called hand grenades. So I stayed away from that.

But the food in New Orleans is very flavorful and soulful. I had so much fish in New Orleans. I ate crab cakes, shrimp, and sole. But the most delicious food from New Orleans was the beignets. I absolutely love them. Beignets are very tasty and I went to the famous Beignet cafe in NOLA called Cafe Du Monde.

So that’s Keith in the Big Apple or should I say Big Easy. Check out next week post because I just got a cool project for my internship.

Hi Everyone,

This I went to the annual San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy. Little Italy is in smack in the middle of Chinatown. The people in Chinatown I really hustling people to buy their knock off clothing and accessories. So let’s talk about San Gennaro and the food in the New York.

The San Gennaro festival was amazing. It reminded of the O.C fair or some state fair. The fair was filled with so much Italian food ranging from pizzas to meat balls to cannolies and zeppoles. So at the fair I sampled the turkey meatballs at this meat ball stand. The meat balls were absolutely delicious plus they were gluten free. One the best meatballs I ever tasted in my life. Check out the photo below.

But lets talk about eating in New York. Eating in NYC is very expensive…more expensive than food in California. Some of their Mc’Donalds do not even have dollar menus. DOLLAR MENUS’. To get a Filet-o-Fish meal it costs about $6  to $7 which I think is crime. In Cali it just cost about $5 and some cents. I feel completely ripped off. I miss the the Dining Commons at SJSU. Okay. I miss getting my Belgian waffles, my Tully’s coffee and Jamba Juice.

However the local Pizza places in NYC are fantastic. I absolutely loved the NYC thin crust pizza. More so the street meat is to die for. When I refer to street meet it is a food cart that cooks flavorful food which I think is Greek inspired. Usually I get the lamb  and rice combo which is fantastic.

Also this week, I tried Shake Stack which is hugely popular on the East Coast. My verdict is that it is a more expensive In-N-Out Burger. I mean the burger and fries were good but nothing could beat In-N-Out and it’s cheap prices. A meal at Shake Stack cost about $10. Look what I get for $10

So that is what is happening in NYC. Remember to keep with me.

Hello Everyone,

After living in New York for about three weeks, I’m kind of getting use to how things operate in this fast city. Though I’m still getting lost in subway stations and taking the wrong subways it’s all part of the living experience. This week I went to Harlem to get a hair cut. Many people cautioned me about going to Harlem but I was like where do I go to cut my hair because there are not black barbers in Manhattan and most of the black barbers were in Harlem, Queens and Brooklyn. I took the bus to go to Victor’s Barbershop in Harlem During the bus I got a look into Harlem. Harlem is a very crowded neighborhood of NY. I see many people with carts wheeling food, clothing and bare necessities. Harlem isn’t as scary as people make it sound it is actually kind of nice and bursting with so much culture.

The weather here is completely different from California. Sometimes New York is hot humid and then rainy and muggy. But right now it is getting real cold. I mean really really cold. I’m afraid what winter is going to look like when it hits the city. Figuring out what wear is perplexing me. Because when I were something I perceive is warm I am cold and vice versa. But with the bursting fashion district here I hope I can find something to bare New York weather.

For instance, I went to the true upper eastside of Manhattan with all the fashion stories on Lexington Avenue. OMG. It is a fashion mecca with department and clothing stores on each street. I know my females friends will fall in love with NY fashion and it’s gorgeous stores. Here are some photos below…

Most importantly, I turned 21 in New York. My birthday was this past Monday so I went to Lexington Avenue to meet with my friends to head to Chevy’s in Time Square. I had a blast on my birthday. I took my first drink and I got were a sombrero. Just a side note alcohol taste absolutely nasty and bitter to me. I don’t understand how people get drunk off this liquid. But that is just me, I rather stick to my juice boxes and chocolate milk. T.

So that’s all with Keith in the Big Apple.

Hello everyone,

I am here in New York living out one my dreams this fall semester. I am interning at MTV in their News and Docs department. More specifically, I am working on the show True Life, doing  tasks similar to an entry-level production assistant.

My orientation with MTV was Tuesday September 7. I was really nervous about attending orientation because I did not know what kind of people I will meet and how the work atmosphere operates at MTV. MTV is very young company. MTV has been around for 30 years. Nevertheless, orientation was very informational and it was a chance to introduce myself to other interns. The MTV building is absolutely gorgeous, it has breath taking views, creative decor and a hip atmosphere. There is over 70 floors in the building and each floor is decked out in a different theme. MTV is also part of Viacom which also owns BET, Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon, Logo and Comedy Central. The HR people in my orientation said MTV is a very laid back but yet professional company and they were not kidding. MTV is so cool and hip and filled with many young people that just graduated college. To myself I was thinking this a great launching pad to my entertainment career I want to have.

So let’s talk about my first week of MTV. My first week was very exciting yet refreshing. On my first day I started transcribing several scenes of True Life. The episode that I was working is going to be good show but I cannot reveal what it is. Also on my first I started transcribing a new show that MTV is working and it has a lot of potential to be hit. Both of my supervisors that I work with are very chill and relaxed. When you work at MTV it does not feel like your working but learning. The theme of the MTV intern program is called “Powered By You.” I truly believe this statement because you make what your internship is. I plan on coming to work with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn. I absolutely going to take advantage of this opportunity and improve myself for the better. Sometimes I feel homesick because I am the only one from California but I have overwhelming support from my friends and family are helping me make it through.  I look forward to other days of my internship and how much I learn and grow. Therefore, this internship is going to be “powered by me” and I make sure I impress my bosses with my electric personality and work ethic.

So that’s my first week at MTV. Remember to keep up with me.

My Thoughts and Bristol and Levi splitting again!!!!

I am not surprised that Bristol and Levi broke up again. They are not a match in heaven. Come on everyone he posed for Play Girl and he possibly got another girl pregnant. He is just a fame whore. He just wants attention and I knew their relationship was doomed for the beginning. So Bristol do not focus on those worn out “Levi’s” just focus on being a good mother to your adorable child!!!

News that is going on this week!!!
